Federal & State Programs
Medicare: Administered by the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA), a division of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. To learn more about Medicare, contact your local SSA office or call (800) 772-1213.

Medicaid: A state-administered program for those eligible under SSI and Families With Dependent Children. Each state is free to design and administer its own Medicaid program resulting in variations in the benefits disbursed. To learn more about the Medicaid program in your state, contact the local office of your state human services or state health department.

Supplemental Security Income (SSI): A federally administered income assistance program. To learn more about the SSI program, contact your local SS office or call (800) 772-1213 or write to:

Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC): A state administered cash grant program for needy children. Because this program is state administered, each state determines the conditions of eligibility and the benefits level. School Programs

Social Insurance Programs
